Hockey 101 with HftL: Penalties

Continuing with minor penalties and their signals covering cross-checking and delayed penalty.

CROSS-CHECKING (MINOR PENALTY)
When a player hits an opposing player with both hands on the stick and no part of the stick is on the ice. The ref's official signal for this is pictured to the left (a forward motion with both fists clenched extending from the chest).

DELAYED PENALTY
When a referee signals that he is about to penalize a player, but will not stop play until the team to be penalized touches the puck. The ref's official signal is pictured to the right (the non-whistle hand is extended straight above the head).
